The Reflections program is a national PTA program that encourages students to express their creativity by interpreting a pre-selected theme each year. The theme for 2017-2018 is "Within Reach.”
All students are welcome to participate in the Reflections program and they may enter in as many categories as they wish. Students who identify as having a disability and receive services under IDEA or ADA:Section 504 may enter in the Special Artist Division or grade division most closely aligned to their functional abilities. Please note that all entries must comply with the National PTA's General Participation Rules and also the rules specific for the category of art selected, which can be found in the Official Rules (Reflections Instrucciones). Students can express their creativity in various forms, which include:
Visual Arts (2D and 3D)
Students' submissions are reviewed by independent third-party judges based on artistic skill, as well how the theme is interpreted. The entries are judged against peers' work (grades K-2nd, 3rd-5th, and 6th grade), and those with the highest scores from our school competition progress to an area competition and possibly to regional, state, and the national contest.
Entries are due on Wednesday, October 11. Please label the backs of all submissions with student name and grade! Please also ensure the required Student Entry Form (Formulario de Entrada) is filled out and attached to the entry. Package the submissions for their protection and place them in the entry box in the school’s library (which will be available starting October 2).
Additionally, your child may submit proposed themes for the theme search for 2019-2020. Please fill out the Theme Search Entry Form. The signed theme submission form must be turned in at the school library no later than October 25th
Finally, there will be a Reflections reception, which is a family event where all artwork is on display and there is an awards ceremony and refreshments. We recognize every student who submitted an entry at the reception. The reception will be held Thursday, November 30, in the Louise Archer cafeteria. Doors will open at 6:30PM allowing participants and guests to see all the Reflections entries that were submitted this year. The awards presentation will begin at 7:00PM.
