Hello LAES runners & parents, please read the information below regarding package pick-up and race day logistics.
Package (t-shirt and bib) pick-up TODAY, March 10th:
If you registered for the 1-Mile Fun Run or 5K race before Thursday, March 2 midnight, you can pick up the t-shirt(s) and bib(s) at the Potomac River Running store in Vienna, located at 111 Maple Ave. W, this afternoon, between 3-7pm. If you registered after this deadline, your t-shirt(s) will be available next week (TBD). However, you should still pick up the bib(s) for timing purposes. T-shirts and bibs can be picked up at the race tent on race day, Saturday, March 11th, at 7am. However, we encourage everyone to pick up their bibs and shirts at the PR store. 1-Mile Fun Run registrants can pick up their “non-timing” bibs at the store as well.
Race Day Logistics:
Our 1-Mile Fun Run and 5K Run will happen – rain or SHINE! Please check the weather ahead of time and dress appropriately. Also, review the course maps if you haven’t done so.
Due to race capacity, we can only sign up a limited number of runners during race day. The cost of race day registration is $45 for the 5K, $40 for kids 13 and under, and $25 for the 1-Mile Fun Run. We accept cash, check, and credit card. Late sign-up ends at 7:45am.
Race Start & Finish:
The TOV Police Department will be in charge of security and closing roads. In addition, race marshals will be on the course to help direct traffic flow. Please follow their guidance. In terms of safety and race etiquette; we highly discourage using any listening devices and/or headphones during the run.
Although we don’t have a wave start, please let the more experienced runners line up at the start line first to reduce congestion. If possible, we want to avoid the faster runners having to weave around other runners and potentially bumping into each other. The W&OD will be shared with cyclists and other runners on Saturday. When entering the W&OD, please do not run more than 2 abreast, stick to the right as possible, avoid the center line, and notify other runners when passing.
Water Station:
Water will be available on Mile St SE after making a right from Center St. When stopping for water, please make sure not to block other runners, and dispose of the cups before entering the W&OD trail.
Finish Line:
You made it! The 1-Mile Fun Run will end in the parking lot near the food & drinks tent. For 5K runners, you will need to pass the finish line for timing purposes and then make your way to the food & drinks tent. Food and drinks are for runners and participants.
1-Mile Fun Run participants (13 & under) will receive a fun surprise upon finishing the race. Awards will be given to the overall male and female finisher, fastest male and female finisher (13 & under), and fastest LAES male and female finisher (13 & under). The award ceremony takes place about 10 minutes after the 5K ends.
Parking and Bathrooms:
Please park in authorized spots only. TOV PD will most likely start closing various roads around the course around 7-7:30am. Since the Town Green bathrooms are locked until the end of March, please use bathrooms at nearby stores if needed (we did inform Whole Foods about the 5K race).
