Get Involved at Louise Archer — Help Shape Our School Community

Volunteering with the Louise Archer PTA is one of the most meaningful ways to become part of our school community — especially if your family is new to LAES due to a move, starting as a Kindergartner, or joining us through the Advanced Academics Program (AAP). Many families tell us that volunteering was the moment they truly felt connected: meeting other parents, getting to know teachers and staff, and feeling like they were part of something bigger.

Our PTA is powered entirely by parent volunteers, and right now we have several roles where your help would make a tremendous impact. Some positions keep major programs running smoothly; others are lighter commitments that still make a big difference. Every role comes with templates, notes, past examples, and support from PTA leadership — you will not be doing this alone.

High‑Impact Roles

Webmaster

Help families stay informed by keeping the PTA website organized, updated, and easy to navigate. You’ll post event details, refresh pages, maintain links, and manage basic site settings. If you enjoy light website editing or keeping information tidy, this role is a perfect fit.

Sunbeam Editor

Create and send our weekly Sunbeam newsletter — one of the most important communication tools for families. You’ll gather updates from committees, organize them into a friendly, readable format, and send the newsletter on schedule. Great for someone who enjoys writing, editing, or keeping people connected.

LA5K Committee Lead

The LA5K is one of our best annual community events & fundraisers. This role helps coordinate registration, promotion, volunteers, and race‑day logistics. If you enjoy event planning or want to help run a beloved school tradition, this is a fantastic way to get involved. This is an event that happens in the Spring; you have plenty of time!

Dining for Dollars Coordinator

Coordinate restaurant‑based fundraisers throughout the year. This role is simple but impactful: reach out to local restaurants, schedule dates, and help promote the events. A great fit for someone who enjoys community partnerships.

Spirit Wear Chair

Help families show their school pride! Work with vendors to select spirit wear designs, manage ordering windows, and promote spirit wear to families. This role is creative, fun, and highly visible.

Faculty Volleyball Game Committee Lead

Plan one of our most popular community events — the annual faculty volleyball game. Coordinate the date, promotion, volunteers, and simple logistics like tickets or concessions. A great role for someone who enjoys bringing people together.

Community‑Building Roles

(These roles are important but more flexible. They’re great for new families who want to ease into volunteering while still making a meaningful impact.)

Field Day Coordinator

Support the PE team by helping organize volunteers and logistics for Field Day — one of the most exciting days of the year for students. This role is fun, energetic, and perfect for someone who loves being outdoors and part of the action.

Odyssey of the Mind Coordinator

Help organize teams for this creative problem‑solving program. You’ll support coaches, manage registrations, and communicate schedules. Ideal for someone who enjoys creativity, teamwork, and supporting student-led projects.

Skate Night Shadow (for next year)

Learn the ropes this year so you can take over next year. Work alongside the current coordinator to understand how to schedule the event, promote it, and manage simple logistics. A low-pressure way to get involved.

Volunteer Coordinator

Help match parents with volunteer opportunities throughout the year. You’ll maintain interest lists, create sign-ups, and support committee chairs. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys connecting people and building community.
