PTA President's Welcome
With the 2016-17 school year right around the corner I am excited about all of the promise of the new year, and a little sad thinking that this will be my family’s last year at Louise Archer. Our PTA volunteers have put together a great line-up of before- and after-school activities and are planning enriching and fun events to build community throughout the year. I hope you will join us as participants, volunteers and event chairs as the year unfolds. This website has information on all of the things the PTA has to offer and you can also sign up as a new or returning member. I encourage you to enroll as family cheerleaders to help us get the year off to a strong start. If you have any questions about our PTA activities or would like to find out about how to get involved please feel free to reach out to me or any of the PTA chairs. Together we can help make our school the best learning community possible for our children.
PTA Back to School Popsicle Party
Back-to-School Popsicle Party
September 1, 3:30-4:30pm
The Louise Archer PTA looks forward to welcoming our students back to school with a popsicle party. After meeting your new teacher at the Open House, join us outside on the playground for popsicles and playtime. Families welcome! While the kids play we will have PTA representatives available to answer any questions about volunteer opportunities, after school programs, and our upcoming events. Sign up for the PTA before or at the event and claim a free Louise Archer car magnet at the information table (while supplies last).
The PTA is looking for volunteers for the following activities:
Popsicle party, September 1 at 3:30 pm - Nine volunteers needed to pick up popsicles, set up, hand out, and clean up.
First day of school packet stuffing, September 6 at 9:15 am - Five volunteers needed to help stuff packets that go home with each child.
Please email the volunteer coordinator if you can help!
Reward Card Registration
It's that time of year when we ask all families to link their Giant and Harris Teeter reward cards to Louise Archer Elementary so the school can earn money every time you shop. Sign up once and earn money for the school all year long!
Some Vienna-area elementary schools earned over $8,600 last year at Giant alone just by people taking two minutes to link their reward cards to the school. Last year, 94 families linked their cards to LAES, earning the school just over $3,200 (more than double the year prior). Imagine how much more we could earn with more families participating! Can we double our numbers again this year?
Giant Food: Register your reward card in Giant's A+ School Rewards Program and enter Louise Archer's Group ID 02124 to earn money for LAES every time you shop at Giant. Or fill out this form and a PTA volunteer will register for you. Registration is good for multiple years and your card can be linked to more than one school or charity.
Harris Teeter: Register your VIC card online and designate Louise Archer through Harris Teeter's Together in Education program. Or next time you shop, give the cashier our school ID 6189 and your VIC card when you check out. Cards must be re-linked every school year.
Back to School with Amazon
Next time you shop on Amazon, get there through Louise Archer's Amazon shopping link and LAES can earn up to ten percent of your purchase -- which can mean big money for our school! Use your own Amazon account, just use the Louise Archer link as the starting point. And remember to bookmark the link to use it every time you shop at Amazon.
Encourage your student to follow his or her inner artist and create a work for the National PTA's Reflections contest. The theme this year is What is Your Story? and categories include visual arts, film, music, literature, photography, and dance. The work can be as elaborate or minimalist as the student desires. All participants are recognized with a medal during an art show and reception at Louise Archer in the fall. For details, please visit the Reflections web page. Entries are due mid-October. The date will be posted as soon as it's available.
