Project Based Learning in our Classrooms
PBL is Project Based Learning. In project based learning, students complete real world tasks, creating products, and presenting these products to an authentic audience.
As Louise Archer teachers plan these projects, they often have to search the community for professionals to advise students or to be an authentic audience for student work. If you have an area of expertise that you would be willing to share, please complete this short form. The school will not reach out to everyone who completes this form, but rather teachers will contact you if you have an area of expertise that can support a project they have planned.
It is Box Top Submission Time
Louise Archer Elementary School will be submitting all collected box tops by Friday, February 22. You can help by providing all box tops to the LAES teachers or via the new pink mailbox by the due date. Once we send in our box tops, LAES will receive a check, which we can use to purchase art supplies, books, or more.
The class with the most box tops will receive a frozen treats party in March.
Louise Archer ES thanks you for your support! Please email Karen Meade with any questions.
Louise Archer Spirit Wear Free Shipping Ending
LAES SPIRIT WEAR! The last day for free shipping is Monday, February 18.
The Sunshine Times January 2019 Issue is Now Online
Check out the fantastic work of our very own student reporters! The student newspaper is available online with the password (you may have received it in an email, if not, email email@example.com). Hard copies were distributed last week to all classes, the library, and students who submitted work.
The May edition submissions are due April 24. Send all submissions and questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Louise Archer STEAM Fair
The Louise Archer STEAM Fair will be March 5, 2019 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The STEAM Fair is open to all students.
To register, students should sign up in their classrooms by February 28. Complete details here.
We also need volunteers to help with set-up, tear down and monitoring displays both during the day and in the evening.
We are very excited to announce that Mathnasium will be at the fair! They will engage the students and families with some cool Math games. Mad Science will participate again this year and mesmerize the kids with their awesome science experiments.
Come hungry, as Empanadas De Mendoza will be there, serving their delicious empanadas and for some dessert (or dinner). Ben & Jerry's will bring in their popular selections of ice creams.
Part of the proceeds will go toward the PTA.
Did you know Alfred L. Cralle was an African American businessman and inventor who invented the ice cream scoop in 1897? Thank you Mr. Cralle!
To continue with the momentum of getting your kids excited about all things science here is a book the represents the A in STEAM. All book recommendations can be found at the local library.
