Attention 6th Grade Parents

It is time to start planning Louise Archer’s 6th Grade Celebration (and class gift)!

The kickoff meeting will be Tuesday, January 25th at 8pm via Zoom. You should have received the Zoom link from your child’s classroom parent. If you have not received the Zoom link please email KristinHerrmann@hotmail.com.

We need lots of help and support from parents to make this celebration memorable for our children and hope you can join the meeting.

Spirit Wear Sale

Brrrrrr, it’s cold out there!! 20% off select fleece items, January 19 – 28.

Use code FS20.

We’ll also have a free shipping period again this spring.. stay tuned for details!

Skate Night Update

Due to an abundance of caution Skate Night is postponed to March 19, 2022.

This should allow for a larger buffer for student vaccinations and for this most recent variant to hopefully pass so we can safely gather together again!

Sunshine Times

The Sunshine Times is a student newspaper intended to be a creative outlet for budding writers, photographers, and artists. All students K-6th grade are encouraged to participate!

TOP 5 REASONS TO WRITE FOR THE SUNSHINE TIMES

  1. See your name in print!
  2. Get a hard copy of the newspaper to bring home!
  3. Write (or draw!) about anything!
  4. Share something new and exciting!
  5. Improve your writing skills while having fun!

Students can write about school/class activities, vacations, local events, sports coverage, travel/book/movie/music/art reviews, interviews, puzzles, Spanish-language columns, poetry, cartoons, advice columns–all ideas are welcome!

Submissions for the first paper are due on January 28th. Kids should have their parents send a short story, poem, artwork, recipes, reviews, etc. (one item per child) to sunshinetimes@louisearcherpta.org.

Parents should indicate that they approve of the submission and include the name of their child, the title of the submission, the child’s teacher and grade.

Visit the PTA Website for additional guidelines.

A Message from Lauren Lipton (School Counselor)

Hello,

I just wanted to share that yesterday [Dec. 14th] we held our annual Warm Winter Clothing Closet event that helped families who were in need of adult, teen and children’s clothing. We serviced 68 adults and out of those 68 adults, 19 adults had children with them. There were a total of 25 children under the age of five years old who attended with their caregiver. In total, there were 93 individuals that came to get what they needed.

I wanted to personally thank each and everyone one of you. All acts of kindness, no matter how small, are noticed. Thank you for your contribution to this event to help families in need in our wider-Vienna community. From the generous donations, to spreading the word through our Madison Pyramid schools, to the volunteers who undertook the laborious effort to sort all the clothing, to all the backend planning and organizing, to the volunteers of Christ Church Vienna who helped facilitate a smooth and positive experience for families—I am in such awe of all of you!

Thank you for your time and commitment to servicing our families in need and I hope each of you have a wonderful holiday!!

With deep gratitude,
Lauren
