Save the Date – Louise Archer(Virtual)5K

The second #LA(VIRTUAL)5k will take place on Saturday, October 16. Registration is open so please visit the PTA webiste to register.

Important Note: In order to ensure you receive an #LA(VIRTUAL)5k t-shirt, you must register by Wednesday, September 29. If you register after Wednesday, September 29, we cannot guarantee you will receive a t-shirt.

A few important dates and details:
T-Shirt Contest: Do you have a budding artist in your home who loves LAES? All LAES students are invited to submit a design for the front of the race t-shirt, which will be worn around town by hundreds of people. The design should be drawn on plain, white paper in black ink with the child’s name and grade on the back. Take a picture, or scan, your design and send it to by NOON on Wednesday, September 29.

Cost: The cost this year remains $10 per child & $15 per adult. If you have the desire and the means, please consider becoming a LAES Family Cheerleader which is a $300 and includes your family’s name on the #LA(VIRTUAL)5K shirt and a couples PTA membership. You will also once again receive a LAES Family Cheerleader yard sign!

Even though the #LA(VIRTUAL)5K will be virtual again this year, we will do everything we can to make this event extra special. For now, register, submit a design for the #LA(VIRTUAL)5k t-shirt, and start training!

Hot Meals for Families

The Louise Archer PTA is partnering with Vienna Foodies to deliver hot meals to Louise Archer Elementary School (LAES) food insecure families. Every dollar raised will be used to support local Vienna restaurants and our LAES families. The families we are supporting will be identified by the Louise Archer administration and will be kept anonymous.

Our first goal is to provide one round of hot meals on September 28, 2021; if this is successful, we hope to provide more meals throughout the year. The cost of one round of hot meals is around $1,500.

Please note that the donations made to this initiative are not tax deductible.

The Louise Archer community is incredible, and we are excited to continue providing for our families who need extra support during these challenging times. For more information please contact

Looking for Sunshine Times Volunteer

We are looking for a volunteer to "shadow" the Sunshine Times external operations during the 21-22 school year and then to take over these operations during the 22-23 school year. This role is currently held by the parent of a sixth grader.

The Sunshine Times is a newspaper published in the late winter and mid-spring to highlight student writing and artwork. Currently, two PTA parents work together to publish the newspaper. The operation is broken into two components:

  1. external operations — advertising the dates for student submissions, collecting and organizing the entries, writing students thank you notes, and distributing the newspaper to students and teachers
  2. design and publication — graphic design/newspaper layout and printing.

LAES is extremely lucky that our graphic designer will be staying on for the next few years.

Please let us know if you are interested in shadowing the external operations position. Time commitment is minimal; about 3 to 5 hours per publication.
