From the PTA President’s Desk

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

This has been a great week. First big shout out to Peter and Lisa Munoz for planning an amazing Reflections ceremony via zoom. Really appreciate all the hard work of collecting and judging all the entries by the entire Reflections Committee and especially the chairs Lisa Munoz and Preeti Batra. The top secret packages made the entire experience thrilling for all of the participants. Big thank you to all of our students who took the time to create a project to enter into the Reflections Committee. It was quite impressive to see how creative so many students are at Louise Archer.

Thanks for everyone that participated in Monday nights PTA meeting. If you want to join the PTA you still can just visit the PTA website at

BRRRR, it’s cold out there!! Winter temperatures are fast approaching and our community needs your help!! Lauren Lipton, school counselor at Louise Archer ES, will be accepting donations of warm clothing for families who might be in tremendous need this winter. We are in need of GENTLY USED or NEW all youth and adult clothing such as jeans, pants, sweaters, jackets, scarves and gloves. Please avoid donating anything with names displayed such as jerseys. Please put clothes in sealed garbage bags. This effort is for an event called the “Warm Winter Clothing Closet” whereby families can obtain free warm clothing this winter.

Donations will only be accepted on 3 Mondays from 9:00am — 3:00pm.

  • Monday, November 23
  • Monday, November 30
  • Monday, December 7

You will see boxes labeled “Warm Clothing Donations” located outside of Door 5 next to the library. Thank you so much!!!

I hope everyone enjoys this Thanksgiving break. Hope it’s a special one whether you are traveling to see friends and family, spending it via zoom, or just keeping it small and at home this year. Whatever your plans please be safe!

Stay safe!

Jazz4Justice Concert

Jazz4Justice Concert – this year it’s virtual!

During the past nineteen years, Jazz4Justice, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, and its predecessors has worked in conjunction with the George Mason University (GMU) Jazz Ensemble to raise money through the Jazz4Justice program. Proceeds are donated to the Legal Services of Northern Virginia and the Jazz Studies Fund at GMU, while raising community awareness for an excellent music program at George Mason University. The program also has the added benefit of raising interest among younger music students in our community to pursue music. During the Fall every year, the Jazz4Justice concert is performed by the Mason Jazz Ensemble, Mason Jazz Voice, Mason Steel Pan Ensemble, and Mason Combo. The concert represents an excellent opportunity for local music students to view an impressive concert.

Due to the pandemic, the in-person event has been changed to a virtual event. Although everything will take place online, the spirit of Jazz4Justice continues. This is only one of a handful of concerts, and this year the concert will be broadcast live on the George Mason University website and YouTube channel. There are no tickets required, and the concert is free and open to the public.

Jr. Optimists Club

Calling 4th-6th graders!

Registration is open for Louise Archers Jr. Optimists Club. Register here. First Meeting is this Tuesday morning, Oct 6th.

Sponsored by the Optimist Club of Greater Vienna. The Louise Archer JOI’s are a group of fourth, fifth and sixth graders dedicated to community service here at school and within our town of Vienna. When in person at Louise Archer, the JO’s continually improve our recycling program and collect donations for Embry Rucker Community Shelter. We hold a Toys for Tots drive during the holidays, work at the Optimist Christmas Tree Lot and help plan our annual Louise Archer Day celebration. We will be looking at virtual ways to help our community and Louise Archer ES. Our Junior Optimists are always looking to make our school and our community a better place to be.
